Ian Wright thinks Mourinho will make a Chelsea return
Arsenal legend, Ian Wright recently spoke about the possibility of Jose Mourinho making a return to Stamford Bridge soon. Wright said he believed the Real Madrid coach could once again find himself in the hot seat at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 despite his reported row with
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
The Portuguese coach left Chelsea in somewhat mysterious circumstances, which were rumored to be disagreements with Abramovich and sporting director Frank Arnesen. Since then, Mourinho has had immense success with Inter Milan and is now in charge of Real
Madrid.
He led the Serie A side to a treble; the Coppa Italia, the Scudetto and the Champions League. So far he has not been able to recreate his success with the La Liga giants, which has sparked rumors that he will soon be facing a Santiago Bernabeu exit.
Mourinho has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Manchester United and a return to Chelsea. Recently returned Manchester United captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Neville-c14447 denied talks of Mourinho taking over from United boss Sir Alex Ferguson,
which leaves Manchester City and Chelsea in the picture.
Even though Wright believes Mourinho would do well at the Eastlands, the possibility of the Portuguese coach taking over from Roberto Mancini seems unlikely. City are currently 4th  in the English Premier League table and are still in contention
for the Europa League title.
Things are a little at different at Chelsea. Despite a highly successful first season at Stamford Bridge, Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti has not been able to maintain his success. The Blues were eliminated from the Carling Cup and the FA Cup earlier and are
currently fighting for a place in the top four.
Even though Ancelotti claimed he was confident his side had a shot at the Champions League, he is well aware the failure to bring the European Cup to London will result in him losing his job. The Italian is not worried though, as he already has a job waiting
for him at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603.
With Ancelotti gone, the Blues will have to look for another suitable manager who has the potential to deliver what Abramovich wants; the Champions League title. Still adored by Chelsea fans, Mourinho is the perfect candidate for the job.
Wright admitted that despite having left the club in uncertain conditions during the 2007 season, Mourinho was still a favorite with the Chelsea supporters. He said while speaking to reporters, “Mourinho was - and still is - adored by Chelsea fans. They
would certainly have him back like a shot.”
Wright was certain the Russian owner had changed his mind about Mourinho, especially after his Champions League win with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan. Abramovich was previously interested in bringing back Guus Hiddink, but the Dutchman has refused to pledge his future to
Chelsea.
Even though Hiddink was somewhat successful in his short while at the Bridge, the Turkey national coach has made no indication that he wishes to return to lead the Blues. However, Mourinho recently hinted on a Premier League return which makes him the more
likely choice for Abramovich, according to Wright.
He continued, “Owner Roman Abramovich clearly regrets his decision to part with Mourinho. He must sometimes be thinking, 'We'd have won the Champions League at least once if Jose was still here' - especially after the incredible job he did unexpectedly winning
the Champions League with Inter last season.”
Wright added, “Some people say that Abramovich and Mourinho no longer get on but I don't think that is any longer the case. I hear they enjoy a decent relationship so there is always a strong possibility Mourinho could return to Stamford Bridge.”
