Iben Tinning wins the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters
Iben Tinning won the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters day and made her farewell from the Tour a victorious one. The 26 year old birdied the par five last at the Emirates Golf Club to finish the tournament at eleven under. This was the first time she has won since her win in September 2005. Iben decided on leaving the Ladies European Tour before she started playing the event. Winning the last event she played on the Ladies European Tour, Tinning surely bid farewell in a very stylish way.
Just as she holed the winning putt, the Danish player hugged her husband Lasse. During her performance in the final round, she posted birdies on the seventh, tenth, and eleventh hole. She bogeyed the par-three 15th hole and at that time was in close contention with Anna Nordqvist and Melissa Reid.
Despite, all the ladies playing very hard to earn the title, it was Tinning who secured victory after posting a birdie on the eighteenth hole. She was two strokes ahead of Anna with Melissa finishing out on third place due to her bogey on the eighteenth hole.
“It's just crazy. Right now it's sinking in and it's just an amazing feeling. To finish off with a birdie, I was shaking over that putt and trying to get control of myself. But I made it and it's fabulous, it's crazy,” said Iben.
She said that she and her sports psychologist had really been struggling to end 2010 on a happy note. She acknowledged that they have made it though and she is proud of their achievements. Iben also said she is proud of everyone behind her and would like to thank them.
The amazing player, Laura Davies, only needed to finish in the top two to dethrone Lee-Anne Pace and lead the money list; however, things did not go how Davies wanted them to and finished at 19th place in the tournament. Her wish to dethrone Pace really started going down the drain when she carded a three-over-75 in the first round.
The first round leader, Florentyna Parker, posted a 68 in the final round and finished in fourth place with American Christina Kim. South African player Lee-Anne finished at 11-over 299 in the tournament and she is still leading the Tour’s Order of Merit title.
The American player, Michelle Wie, had the best round of the day as she carded five birdies to finish at 67 and tie for fifth place with South Korean, In-Kyung Kim,who was he defending champion.
