The Rossoneri boss defends his selection for Derby della Madonnina; and looking to bounce back with a win over Novara in Coppa Italia.
A.C Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has dismissed reports of incompatibility between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-Pato-c4901 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s strike partnership.
The duo started together in his team’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan in Derby della Madonnina at San Siro on Sunday, January 15th. After the game, several football pundits and fans slammed Allegri’s decision
to rest http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robinho-c31382 in favour of Pato.
Some people believe that had the manager persisted with his first-choice combination of Robinho and Ibrahimovic, they could have gone onto win the match. Despite Milan dominating lion’s share of possession, they failed to get a
lot of shots on target.
Allegri insisted that there is no problem between the two strikers, and they will know each other well in the future. He insisted that both of them are world-class players and they will grow playing together.
The former Cagliari boss backed Pato for success, and insists that the Brazilian is low on confidence, and he will get better as the season progresses.
While talking to the reporters, Allegri insisted,
“There is no problem between Ibrahimovic and Pato. It is only a matter of finding the best fit. An understanding between them will grow as they play together. The boos [Pato] received in the derby have not affected him. Yesterday
and today it is clear, I think Pato just needs to find the goal for his confidence.”
The tactician is confident of bouncing back strongly after the derby defeat, and insists that it will not change their approach for the remainder of the season. He is confident that the team will make a strong comeback against
Novara in Coppa Italia.
“The defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 does not change the approach of Milan. We have absorbed it and tomorrow the challenge of the Coppa Italia with Novara allows us to turn things around very quickly.”
Milan squander a golden opportunity to become the undisputed league leaders, as Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw by Cagliari.
The Rossoneri will take on Novara in their next game on Wednesday, January 18, 2012.
