Ibrahimovic shrugs off injury concerns and eager to feature from the start of the season: Serie A news
A.C Milan striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, is optimistic of recovering soon from the ankle injury he picked up during his team’s friendly game with Malmo.
The Swede twisted his ankle during his team’s 2-2 draw and had to be substituted in the second half. The 29-year-old is glad that the injury is not serious as initially thought and he will undergo a precautionary scan on Wednesday.
The former Inter Milan striker added that he was feeling the pain but the fan’s roars kept him playing.
Talking to the reporters Ibrahimovic said, "At one point I twisted my ankle but I really wanted to stay on the pitch as the crowd was fantastic. I couldn't go on though after an hour. The ankle really hurts at the moment, but the
doctor has told me that it's not too serious."
Ibrahimovic is confident that he will be fit in time to start the 2011/12 campaign. The striker is a main figure in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad and he played a massive role in helping his side in winning the 2010/11 Serie A campaign.
The Swedish international joined the Rossoneri on-loan from Spanish Champions, Barcelona, before the start of the 2010/11 campaign and his superb performances have forced the club to make his signing permanent during this transfer
window.
Ibrahimovic is carrying his lucky run of winning 8 successive league titles with Ajax, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Milan respectively. The tall striker’s goal-scoring abilities set him apart from rest of the strikers in the league
and his overall contribution has been a revelation for Allegri’s squad.
The former Malmo star added much needed spark to the Rossoneri team, who were struggling for the past three or four seasons. The striker is confident of repeating last season’s success and has targeted double of Serie A and UEFA
Champions League in the upcoming season.
Milan will be hoping to get the striker fit for their opening league clash against Cagliari on August 27th, 2011.
