Ibuprofen overdose?

Two days ago I had a terrible headache and fever. I took 2 ibuprofen tablets at 12pm, 2 tablets at 5pm and another 2 at 11.30pm. Two days later and I have started to get this painful stomach cramps and have had an upset stomach. The bottle said that maximum dose in 24 hours is 6 tablets but I cant remember if I possibly may have taken 2 the day before (its doubtful but I may well have done). Normally I wouldnt think this would do too much harm but I read in the paper a woman died from taking half a paracetemol over the guideline amount. Should I be worried?

over the counter ibu's are sold as 200 mg a tablet.

I take 2400 mg a day with no problems. the thing with taking OTC is the wax and other stuff they put into the lower dose tablets that mess up some peoples system or you may not be able to tolerate the meds as well as others.

First off I am NOT a DOCTOR! "But, I would not be worried about taking that amount of ibuprofen. I would be kind of thinking about what I may have eaten or drank that day, But then you say you had stomach cramps and so fourth two days later, so I would probably see a doctor if I did not feel like I was getting better real soon.

nah. but try to drink some more water, you may be dehydrating

prescription strength Ibuprofen is about 800mg or 4 pills every 4 hours.

Your fine. In fact you could take more if needed.

But talk to your doctor before taking that much

Probably not, however you might have had some sort of reaction  to the drugs.  This isn't really the best place for medical advice so contact your doctor if you are worried.

Sounds like you have the same bug I have.  I also have bad stomach pains, headache and a fever.  I also have several other symptoms and haven't really been out of bed for 4 days.  I think your stomach cramps are part of the bug.

You haven't really taken much ibuprofen, and I would think its less than a 1 in a million billion zillion chance of dieing from "half a paracetamol over the guideline amount".

You would have taken 200 mg tablets ,of Ibuprofen .You have not taken a high dose. Further you are used to the drug.

The stomach cramp would have been a result of the bug.

According the British National formulary one of the side effects of Ibuprofen is Nausea and diarrhea but not abdominal pain.
