  1. Dhoni

    Smith

    Smith

    Dhoni

    Mendis

    Taufel

    Srilanka

  2. ODI Player: Dhoni. A good ODI player.

Test Player: Chanderpaul,  McKenzie or Smith.

Chanderpaul is consistently good and is nearly (if not always) amongst the runs. McKenzie and Smith have a very high opening average together and Smith has just won a Test series in England (the first time that had happened in a long time). Any one of those three deserve the award.

Cricketer of the Year: Chanderpaul or Smith.

    Best Captain: Mahela Jayawardene.

Lead the way to convincing wins over India, what more is there to say.

Emerging Player: Asantha Mendis. It'll most likely go to Mendis but I think Southee, Morkel and maybe Broad should at least get a nomination.

Umpire: Simon Taufel. Consistently the best umpire year after year.

Spirit: Sri Lanka. A team who always try to play the game with a good heart and within the spirit of the game.

  3. Best ODI player - Grame Smith

Cricketer of the year - M. S. Dhoni

Best Test player - Virendra Sehwag

    Best cricketer - Sachin Tendulkar

Best captain - Ricky Ponting  (Ganguly & Dhoni for India)

    Emerging Player - Ajantha Mendis

    Best Umpire - Simon Taufel

Spirit of Cricket - Adam Gilchrist

  5. M.S.Dhoni

    S.Chanderpaul

    M.S.Dhoni

    R.Ponting or G.Smith

    S.Raina or S.Marsh

    Simon Taufel

    Shaun Marsh

  6. Best ODI player - Got to be Dhoni. He's been an immensely consistent ODI batsman all season, maintaining high standards behind the stumps, combined with great captaincy, raking up some pretty impressive wins along the way - in all of which he has been a principal part.

Best Test player - Sehwag, maybe - he's churned out some breathtaking innings this year - but I guess it'll be Chanderpaul for sheer consistency. Pietersen *might* be a contender. Sangakkara as well, though his form kind of dropped in the West Indies tour. Oh, and Smith, too.

Cricketer of the year - Tough one. Graeme Smith, maybe?

Best Captain - I can't see Ponting winning it again this year - Smith and Dhoni will emerge as strong contenders, and in all probability Smith will get it.

Best Emerging player - Mendis, without doubt. Ishant could be another contender.

Umpire of the year - Simon Taufel. Duh. Mark Benson maybe, too.

Spirit of Cricket - Sri Lanka, without doubt. Both players and spectators enjoy the game for what it is and are admirably gracious in both defeat and victory. Kudos to them for showing the world in what spirit the game should really be played - not with ceaseless animosity and powerplays and players spitting venom at each other.

  7. Best ODI player - Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Best Test player - Graeme Smith

    Best cricketer - Graeme Smith

    Best captain - Mahela Jayawardene

    Emerging Player - Asantha Mendis

    Best Umpire - Simon Taufel

Spirit of Cricket - Joint award for Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds for their improvement of race relations between India and Australia.

  8. Best ODI player-- Probably Dhoni out of all those listed above, for his excellent captaincy, solid keeping, and very valued cameos.

Test Player-- Chanderpaul. The Windies are one of the worst teams in cricket, and often throw away their wickets. Chanderpaul prizes his beyond, it seems, his life ( batting soon after being partially paralyzed), and it was thanks mainly to him that Windies got even in the same league as Australia during the recent Test series.

Best Cricketer-- Dhoni, if not for the reasons mentioned under ODI, because he has become a huge brand.

Captain-- Smith. He took a team that had a reputation for failing when it mattered most, and has imbued them with a fighting spirit, and has led by example with some great innings.

Emerging Player-- Ajantha Mendis. Throughout against India, he was a consistent threat. He still has much to learn before people can really consider him the next Murali or Warne, but the raw talent and desire is already there.

Best Umpire-- Taufel. By far has been the best.

Spirit-- Sri Lanka! Ireland, I don't know, England has the whole Elliott incident on their hands, and India helped set off the whole monkey scandal, so probably Lanka.
