  1. yeah about that u should get new pads the simmons ultra light 4 is nice and i agree with the other guy koho SUCKS:)

  2. I would go with the real pads - the puck can do some serious damage if you are not careful. Take all the protection you can get. Go for the thicker pads - you can get used ones. The ice ones are more dense, block better. I think they are slightly wider too, which could help in goal.

  3. You should checkout goaliemonkey.com and or call them.

You need Ice pads not roller.

  4. frig how old are you??? well im 15 and i play hockey and if you used road hockey pads you would break your friggen leg in our leauge. I play in a rec league too. There is no checking or nothing its just the guys can shoot hard. So as you get olded i would get normal pads

  5. Roller pads... you wanna ditch them right about now...

Ice hockey pads absorb less water from the ice and your body... they won't be as heavy at the end of the game.  They have much better padding too.  This will help deaden shots and keep the puck infront of you.

If you don't have goalie skates yet, you should get those too.. they are weighted differently than regular skates and they have a wider blade, a longer blade and a flatter blade than hockey skates... you'll need them for better ballance.

If you get new pads and live in Ontario or near it... I would go to Don Simmons for pads... they have a lot of high quality low end pads... they have a web site...  I would also say not to get Koho pads because they have so much padding that you won't be able to move... Koho makes the worst goalie equiptment imo...

your gonna want to break those pads in if you by new ones and believe me that's a work out in its self.

training tips... short sprints, push ups, and up downs (I know, it sucks but its good for you) ... and see shots as much as you can...

Hope I helped... I was a goalie anf now i'm a goalie coach.
