this is a kenmore side-by-side about three years old (106.56549400). Ice maker not making ice. I replaced the water valve in the back and did not fix the problem. Water is dispensing through the water dispencer so I know main feed is OK. I blew through the ice maker water feed going to ice maker to make sure it was not clogged up. I was able to blow air all the way through. I removed the ice maker (106 626663). I had manually added water to it a few days ago wondering it that would make ice. Most of that water was gone?? When I removed the plastic cover from around the motor, there was a small piece of plastic loose. It was one of the prongs holding the white plastic gear in place - could that be the problem? I don't have any way of doing much further testing and would just as soon just order another ice maker if I knew for sure that would fix the problem, but how do I know it is not the circuit board or something else?
