  1. I think you will be fine because the worst thing to do in skating is to lose your balance. Trust, because you have those skills from rollar blading (or inline skating as that other person said lol) you will be really good at balancing

but because u mite b a bit nervous, that when yu mite lose ur balance, thru nerves etc,

U will really enjoy it, make sure yu wear gloves then you dn't even hert ur self really! u just get fit stewards to help u up, so just hav a good time!! lol

    (can;t spell either) :-)

  2. When I was younger I did artistic roller skating, which is done on quad skates. From there I switched to figure skating. That is actually supposed to be an easier transition than inline skates, but it's still hard no matter what. The ice is a strange sensation to get used to. What I would suggest is stay close to the wall, if you need to, your first few times around. Tie up the skates so they are nice and snug so that your ankles don't wobble too much. Be aware of the toe pick!!! It is very very easy to trip over. If you don't want that problem, then rent hockey skates. Bottom line, don't rush it, just take your time and get used to the ice. It's a very awkward thing to get used to so don't expect it to feel natural. Hope that helped!

  3. Ice skating and rollerblading are somewhat similar, they are one of those sports that have their similarities and their large differences. I personally can ice skate well, but I can't Rollerblade worth my life. Use your arms for balance, and try "marching" into a glide on the ice. Falling is part of learning in skating. Good luck!

  4. BTW- The sport is not "Rollerblading", whatever that is, it's inline skating. Rollerblade is a company that makes inline skates.

Being an inline skater, I thought ice skating would be similar and easy. My ice skater friend said it was easier, but it wasn't! It was a LOT different than inline skating. You need more balance, and the turns are sharper. I tensed up a lot! Just apply your inline skills with knee bend and everything. Stay close to the wall at first, and push off with one foot, then the other. And relax! Good luck! :)

  5. Ice skating and roller blading are similar, yet different.  On ice, you should push the same way you would on roller blades, using the sides of your blades rather than off the toe.  It sort of depends on what kind of skates you're using.  Figure skates have toe picks and a different blade with hockey skates probably being closer to roller blades.  Either way, just start out with small marching steps and try to stay off of your toes.  Use your arms for balance and keep your knees bent.  Once you're a little more comfortable, try pushing like you would in your roller blades, again keeping your arms out to the side for balance.
