  1. dont worry i am a figure skater and when i was little and it was my first time skating i was a mess , worried about falling and all that, but after i got on the ice i loved it and it was so easy, now my dad manages the local rink and i am there almost everyday, lol, my whole family skates here are some tips:

-keep your arms straight out to the side

-stand up straight , then relax your knees a little

    -dont lean backwards

-look were you want to go

-march, you will be practically walking on ice

hope your skating is very fun and you dont fall to much

  2. okay, this are the basics:

    -Lace well your skates

    -Wear comfortable clothes

-Dont be scared of falling, just think on this, what will happen if you fell? you will get dirty? what else can happen? serious injuries are not common and they ONLY happen to people doing jumps, etc. or to some figure skaters.=)

-just glide on ice and mantain the balance

-at first you can get on the wall and skate there or get someone that knows to skate with you=)

    The best of lucks, alex.

  3. its like roller blading if yurve ever done that. move your right foot forward and kind outward then same with left. start by hangin onto the wall the let go. if you never let go youll never know what will happen.

  4. Don't worry!  There isn't much to be afraid of.  Make sure you have the ankles of your skates tied tightly so you have enough support.  If your feet lean to either side, your skates should be retied, or exchanged them (if you're using rentals) for ones that are less broken in.

Once you get on the ice, start slow.  Take small marching steps and stay close to the wall.  When you get more comfortable and confident, try pushing like you would in rollerblades, staying off of your toes.

Most importantly, have fun!  It's not that bad.  If you fall, get back up.  Everyone falls!
