Ice Skating help....!!?!?

In my 1 foot spin, somehow, once i clip my free leg (when i spin faster), i tend to wobble a lot. And it seriously looks funny... :D So i need help on how to make myself stay still and not wobble. (any advice??even if its some stuff i need to do off ice :) Please and thank you!!:D

  1. Hello.  I had the same problem.  1st before you start spinning make sure you aren't thinking about going fast.  Just think about where your arms and leg should be.  2nd  As soon as your leg is in front center your spin.  You do this buy make a fist with your foot that your spinning on.  If your not centered you will wobble like a weeble, only unlike them you will fall down, lol.  The whole time you bringing your leg in stay centered and don't look down.   As for off ice I don't have any ideas,  ( I read on line you can put socks on and spin on the hardwood floor,  but I don't recommend that LOL).  Good luck with skating!  I hope I helped you.


  2. you are wobbling because of one or both of these problems.

    * you are not completely over the ball of your foot and that makes you loose control

    *you arent taking time to get into your spin, take the time to make the curve into a good position.

    dont worry about it looking funny, its practice right? everyone looks funny when they start practicing something. ;)

  3. well, i had the same problem too. your might be on the wrong part of your blade, or might not take the time to balance before you pull in. your skates could also be a problem, you may not be tying your skates tight enough. if your skates are too big for your ankle you should consider getting bunga pads or something.

  4. You might be doing that because you unwillingly switch your blade from an outside to the inside edge. Try not to do that---keep your legg stiff and firm. and always concentrate and never rush before doing your spin

  6. it happens to everyone when they start their one foor spins! just chill, it will come with time. just remember to carefully center it, and keep your weight on the ball of your foot.
