I have a Whirlpool frost free fridge that is about 15 years old with freezer on top. Trouble is I can't afford a new fridge at the moment and I'm a techo-idiot in this field..

Ice keeps forming at the fridge section vent at the top rear centre and water condenses (often quite a bit) on the ceiling dripping onto the shelves etc.

The temperature dials sometimes stick a little (mostly the freezer dial) but work with a tiny bit of pressure - don't know if there is any ice forming in there or not.

The freezer section is fine but ice cream does get too hard presumably because of the problem in the fridge section. No ice forms in the freezer.

The seals probably need replacing.

I have left it to defrost for over 24 hours with the doors open and dried it thoroughly. I tilted it slightly back and forward to try to get all the water out I could. The problem just recurred. I have also left it to defrost for shorter periods.

I've read a few solutions - door seals, regassing, taking the freezer apart to defrost the hidden coils with a hair dryer, etc.

Any ideas out there before I start paying money to have the mechanics investigate, or try to find the moeny to buy a new fridge?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.
