  1. ONLY ICE FROM UR WAIST DOWN.  It is not good to submerge more than that.

  2. if you really want to take an ice bath (i think you're insane, just icing my lower legs makes me want to hit something), generally people take them when they are sore or want to try and prevent soreness from occuring, so how often you do it is really up to you and how you feel. Though you should not stay in more than 20 minutes, due to after that you could be risking hypothermia. and what you submerge is up to you too, i generally do knees down cause thats where all my problem areas are, but if you have pain in upper body, you can do a full ice bath in what you descibed.

  3. Only ice from the waist down, the pint is to get your legs iced. You don't really need to do them more then 2x a week. If you have an injury that requires more icing you should talk to a sports doctor and try to do spot concentrated icing. I usually do 10-15 min but you can do longer if you want. It can't hurt. To make it less cold wear your running shorts, socks and a sweatshirt on your top. You don't want to freeze and get sick from it.

  4. The only time you should really be taking ice baths is after a few really hard workouts that have left your muscles really sore, or when you have hurt a muscle or two. You should submerge your body from the waist down to release any pain or soreness in your legs.

  5. Unless your working REALLY hard, an ice bath isn't really necessary. Your better off to have a shower, alternating between hot and cold every minute.
