Ice hockey; Mike Fisher’s great love story
Couples are made in heaven but marriages are celebrated on earth. There is nothing more exciting to have a love life and be in a relationship. At some point in life everybody is bitten by the love bug. That is what happened with the Ottawa Senator’s centre Mike Fisher who fell deeply in love with the Grammy-winning singer Carrie Underwood and finally married her last week.
Michael Andrew Fisher is the Canadian professional ice hockey player who has been playing at the centre and currently performing his duties as an alternate captain of the Ottawa Senators of National Hockey League. He has spent ten years with Senators.
Carrie Underwood is the very well-known American singer-songwriter and actress. She was brought into the limelight after she won the American Idol contest in the fourth season. She promptly became the fame monster and sold millions of copies of her first and second album. She became the multi-platinum selling recording artist in America.
In October 2008, Carrie Underwood performed in her concert at Toranto, Canada. The concert was attended by thousands of Underwood fans including Fisher. They were introduced by friends and later in the show when she went backstage after her performance, Fisher did manage to see her and talk a little.
Luckily Mike was received very well and it touched the diva’s heart what he said. They kept their courtship away from the spotlight but didn’t hide their love for each other as they kept dating for a whole year. She actually wrote a dedication “Thank you #12” in one of her albums as a gesture of great love for Mike Fisher. Number 12 was actually Fisher’s jersey number. She also dedicated these words to him, “you are the most amazing addition to my life. You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much! You make my life better in every way! I thank God for you every day”.
Fisher formally popped the question last December and waited for the answer. Finally it came out and she seemed to agree with him on the matter. Around the same time, Mike also achieved his career milestone and scored 25 goals last season. It was the highest number of goals of his career.
They got engaged and Fisher represented her fiancée with the world’s most expensive ring worth 150,000 dollars. It was an attention grabber and turned many eye balls. The engagement ring was fully hyped by the media around the world.
At the time of engagement, one of his team mates said that, “there’s going to be a lot of broken hearts because a lot of girls were madly in love with Mikey. He has met an amazing girl and we are thrilled for him”.
Ultimately the big day came up this year and they got married. The marriage ceremony was organised in Greensboro, Georgia. It was attended by a lot of famous stars from the music industry and sports world. Over 250 guests witnessed the wonderful wedding.
The legendary American country singer and actor Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were also among the featured visitors. The couple’s much liked Bible verses and classical music added more value to the ceremony. Recently Underwood spoke to media and talked about their future plans. She mentioned that they intend to keep two homes; one in the Nashville, Tennessee and the other one in Fisher’s hometown of Peterborough, Ontario.
The music fans and hockey lovers around the world are happy about this great union of their favourite stars.
