In order to actually prevent the other team scoring, what are the rules against a team signing some obese guy just to sit in front of the goal and eat McDonalds all game long? Is there a weight and size limit?

  1. no that would be sizism and yea lik racism it is a big deal. if that was the real reason why a team didnt sign the person,if had a good case they could go to court. but it would be stupid because he woouldnt have the agilty nor speed for the matter to move.

  2. Of course theres no regulations for players heights and weights, but could you really find a guy who can cover a six by four foot area, and then find the pads to fit him?

Ive always wondered if you could lay a goalie on his side, and lay another player on top of him (on his side as well) for the entire game, and position them so there was no holes for a puck to get in, if that would work... Sure, you would be shorthanded the entire game, but there would be little to no chance of the other team getting a goal

  3. ive followed hockey for a long time, and ive read the rules before. so to answer ur question, no there is not. Goalies need to be in shape and able to recover quick when the skate out for a puck. Thats why you dont see fat *** goalies

  4. Done, just get McDonald's to sponsor it.

And clean up the mess with McIce girls wearing golden arches over their protruding...

  5. They can't block goals if you are defense that is interfearing that is what a goalie is for... duh (they can stop the puck but if they go down on knees ect it is interfearing if i remember correctly)

You can get a suspension if become overweight there is much use for someone who is overweight on the ice. It is a facepaced game.

  6. The net is enormous i really doubt there's a guy fat enough to cover it all.  Even if there were general managers would have too much respect to actually do that, and the person in question probably wouldn't want to be exploited like that.

  7. I'm loving how Kari is completely wrong about everything and she didn't even understand the question.

But..it was said. Even the fatest of fat couldn't cover a whole net, and a fat person does not move quick at all, so with NHLers accuracy, they could take full advantage of the few holes the goalie lets, and they'd probably win the game :]

And..somebody said it, I'd like to see a morbidly obese guy trying to put on the equipment.

  8. Canadians wouldn't stoop that low.  We love our game too much.  Besides, the guy wouldn't last 10 minutes.  You have to be in super shape to be a goalie.

Just a sideline question:  Why do Americans call it ice hockey?  Up here, hockey and ice go together, so it's always assumed.

  9. because bfarl33, we americans have field hockey, inline hockey. street hockey, AND hockey!

  10. There is not a weight limit, because this is not wrestling. You can put whoever you want out there, just as long as you keep the opponents from scoring. It is not all about getting a huge goal tender, because they dont play as well. Actually, a normal sized goalie would stop more goals that a large one, because goalies have to move side to side to stop pucks from all angles. A huge person would not block the net. There are other ways to stop goals, such as good defense, and backchecking forwards. You can go down on your knees or side to stop pucks from getting through, but that could be harmful to the player. There are many different defensive techniques to use, and also communication is key. If your team does not talk out there, then they will not know who is covering who, and where they are if you are trying to give them a pass, because you cant always see your teammate if you only get a second or two to look up and fire a pass before the other team is on you. Hockey is a very complex game. It is not about huge players blocking the goals and checking people, but mainly about skilled players, who may be smaller, but who know the game.

  11. Believe it or not, even a morbidly obese guy would not cover the entire net. Plus, he would have to wear pull pads (good lucky getting those on) and would probably not make an entire 60 minute game going up and down to block shots as well as skating to square with the puck.
