I followed your suggestion and went to a local dealer to get a valve. I told him about the problem and he thinks that my ice tray (where the ice forms) is broken or cracked. He asked if I get pieces of plastic or what appears to be like colored paper in the ice, and I told him it does that a lot. He said that the ice tray needs replacing, and that it is about the same price as a entire new unit ($100.00), and he charges $40.00 for the install. He also said that with a new unit I won't have to replace the other parts in a year or two when they get worn out, which ends up costing more to do it piece by piee. What do you think about what he is saying? I could try to find an entire unit, but from what I am finding the prices out there are more for just a new unit (that I will have to install) than what he wants for an entire new unit and the install?
