  1. Never buy online.Ever. It can make you go back to the begining and you can;t be fitted. i agree with everyone who is saying get fitted. If your on the east coast u should chack out micheal cunningham

I swear by this guy. He has pics of tara lipinski on his wall with him standing next to her and autographed by her. He fits many other skaters liek kristi yamaguchi. etc. This guy is good. I moved up like 6 levels i went from basic 4 to freestyle 1 or 2 in under 6 months with good skates. It doestake  time to break them in but so worth it.

He does it liek semi custom its made to fit ur width and toe box.

How much they'll run- Roughly 300 dollars maybe less depends on boot

  2. Why are you buying skates online?

You should ask your coach who in  your area could fit you in a good pair of  figure skates.  Buying a poor fitting boot and blade could hinder your progression. A good fitted pair will definitely make you excel faster plus figure skating is rough on your feet and ankles and you want a good fitting pair to help minimize injury. Seeing a professional boot fitter would be your best bet especially if your taking private lessons. Your coach will love you for having a good pair skates.

  3. While the premium blades will last longer, the bigger question is how fast are you growing? You may well outgrow your skates before you wear down the boot or the blade. In that case, as a beginner, save your parents' money and get the recreational blade.

My daughter, on her coach's advice, did not switch up until she was doing double jumps, a long way from beginner skating.

  4. I'd go with the better quality blade.  You're skating more frequently with lessons and testing, so you're not really just skating recreationally anymore.  A preimium blade will be better for edge stuff and spinning.  The preimium blade will probably stand up better to the type of skating you're doing more than a recreational blade will.

  5. Buying skates online can be difficult. What is best, though it may be more expensive, is to find a local figure skating shop. There a professional can measure your foot, and help find you a good blade. They also can heat mold your boot to your feet, which will later prevent blisters. If your foot grows fast get the recreational edge, but if it doesn't I suggest getting the premium, because most skaters begin to advance quickly in the beginning. Sooner or later the quality of the edge and the toepick will matter if you will be landing your jumps or spinning properly. GOOD LUCK!!!
