  1. Its not so much that your skates need to be dull, because that would slow you down. And make it hard to turn quickly, possibly resulting in further injury.

If you go to skate sharpener that is more personal, like a sports shop, or arena guy (Not a Big Box store like Candian Tire, or other stores like sportchek) talk to the skate sharpener.  There are different skate sharpenings that vary from player to player, depending on your style of play/position/size.  Most of the time they all get sharpened the same, except for the pros.

But once i got my skates sharpened tapered towards my position/size i noticed a huge difference.

    Hope this helped

  2. rockstar is total right, your skates are sharp. sharp skates are very good for everything in skating except stopping. You can take the edge off slightly without hurting them by doing the twist on the rubber mats at the rink. And you should also work on your stopping skills. Try this tip Use when teaching hockey stops. Skate straight a head and bounce bending your knees and count 1-2-3. On 3 bend and twist so your turned. The bouncing helps make sure you are bending your knees enough.

  3. well sorry if i sound a little harsh but u jus get over it i mean other than skating i mean you could walk on concrete without gaurds (kidding dont ever do that cause if u did i would scream and it would be so loud u could hear it!) but it is for the better that your skates are sharper if you keep them sharp and get them sharpend every 20 to 40 hours of skating time you will get used to them and your skating will become better

good luck with ur skating!!!: )

  4. Aside from just practicing and learning to skate better, along with stopping better, the reason you can't stop as abruptely is probably because your new 9k's have sharp blades and your old skates had blades that were more dull.  The duller skates make it somewhat easier to stop if you are not a stong skater.  Stronger skaters sharpen their skates in order to stop even sharper, but sharp skates are difficult to use if you are just beginning to learn to skate.
