i play roller hockey and i want to start ice. ive never really been able to ice skate that well and have always been an ok inline skater, until recently i have become a much better dare i say excelent skater on the roller blades, but now i need to know how good do you think ill be when i step onto the ice this satuday? for a picture of how good i am at inlines -- i can do all the basics, pretty much the only thing i cant do is go sideways and go on just one wheel. im one of the better backwards skaters on my team too. but how do you think ill do on the ice???

  1. last year was my first year playing ice and I was a decent inline skate. the hardest thing is learning to apply your wieght to your edges so you can stop it took me to near the end of the season before I got it right. man my coach yelled at me all seaon about it.lol

  2. Street to ice is easier then ice to street. You will do well with minor practice. the main difference is the "Cutting" of the blade into the ice, the hard turns, quick stops and direction changes on the ice are much different due to the fact the blade cuts into the ice unlike wheels on the street.

  3. You should do fine with the basics, but stopping will be a challenge. And if you define good skater by some of the trick stuff you can do, then you're going to be in for a shock.

The biggest thing is going to be learning how to use your edges to stop and make deep cuts.. They grip, where roller blades slide. You're going to have to learn the feel of those so you can make strong turns and stop.
