  1. this is the price i pay for everything I'm in novice btw.

    Lessons: 30 mins-$34

                     1 hr- $68

                      Off ice/Ballet 45 mins- $15

    Skates: about $1000

    Sharpening: $15

Ice Time (freestyle session): $12 per hour

  2. Sharpening skates is very cheap, at my arena its about 5$

but its the cost of skates that will be hard. Mine coast about $850, since they are professional skates but if you are a beginner you can buy a pair at $75-$200

the cost of lessons depends on the arena you go to, you may be doing lessons with a private coach like as myself which costs me 30$ and hour or a group lesson, i have no idea what that costs but it all depends on the coach and arena and the price they ask for. hope i helped:)

  3. Figure skating is very  expensive. depending on what you want to do, wether public or private lesons, it all depends on which way you want to go.

Lesson prices depends on the rink itself. You may have to call.

A decent pair of skates, if you go custom can run you 600.00 for the boots alone; or others may start @ 350.00 just for boots alone.

Different rinks charge different prices for sharpennings

  4. In the Chicago suburbs, the group lessons for freestyle classes are $135 for 8 classes in a session in my rink....for beginners it is slightly less $120 I think. And then if you wanna do private lessons, it depends on the coach, some charge higher amounts than others. Mine charges $25 for half an hour which I do early mornings before my group lesson. You also have to pay for ice time on the private lesson, ours is $12-15 for half an hour I think...

You can buy beginner boot/blade (comes attached together) for about $100-$150 but as you advance to jumping and spinning you would need higher quality boots and blades...mine were $380 for the boots and $185 for the blades (Coronation Ace) . I pay $15 for sharpening.

  5. a half hour lesson usually cost about $30

decent skates maybe around $300-$400? I know my custom fit harlicks cost around $800.

blade sharpening depends on your sharpner but i would say definitely not more than $15. I get mine for $5 because the guy is an old family friend of ours

  6. Well, at my rink in New York...

Lessons: $30 for half an hour

Skates: Mine are around $400 but you can get beginner skates with good ankle support for about $100.

    Sharpening: $5

Here`s a website for deals on skates.....

  7. Okay iam in the uk so my answer will be in £.

You sound like me. I was 15 when i started and have a half an hour lesson a week :)

A 1-2-1 lesson, you and the coach will cost around £15.00 a week for half an hour. A group lesson means you dont get as much attenetion as you need as the coaches focus will be on about 5 people. They will cost around £7.50 depending on how many there are.

Descent skates. I would recomend jacksons begginer range, shey are around £50.00 inluding blades.

The price of sharpening them varies, one rink i know its £7.00 and the other £5.00 but the £5.00 makes a way beter job then the rink thats charges more, so ask people for who they recomend or ask your new coach :)

email me if you want any more advice.

  8. A half hour a week lesson in my area (Chicago) goes from 20-30 dollars depending on the coach.  Decent skates, since you are just beginning will for sure be under 400 dollars.  But beginners are allowed to rent skates for a good price from most ice rinks, I think it's only a couple dollars at my ice rink.  And getting blades sharpened is like 20 dollars where I go, but there's a lot of places that will do it for cheaper, and for awhile I got mine sharpened for free from a friend of one of my coaches.  The best thing to do is to get connections with people.  My coach literally found his last skates and they were free.  Someone had just left them at the ice rink, in the lost and found, for weeks.  And they originally were like 600 dollar skates, at least, and someone had either grown out of them or had quit the sport.  My coach saw them sitting in the lost and found for ever and he just took them.

Also, look at ice rink's bulletin boards.  Find a rink that you may want to start lessons at and try to see if they have a "used for sale" section.  That way you can get great skates for a little bit of money.  Also, ask the director of the ice rink if they have a resale.  Because I'm on a national ISI skating team, we needed money to travel to some of our competitions.  We collected everyone's old skating stuff and sold each piece for five dollars.  Imagine that, you can get great skates for five dollars!

But here's my tip: If you're concerned about a coach fee, that may get in the way.  I've gone through a lot of coaches and I hate to say that typically the more expensive ones are better.  However, my first coach (who at least got me started) was $27 per half hour.

  9. Well to join a club in Ontario it's about $500 and private lessons can be anywhere from $10.00-35.00 per half an hour, skates about $200, blades sharpened $10-$20.

  10. I'll just say what they cost around here (SF Bay Area).

Lessons: Private run $40-45 for a half hour.  Group lessons are much more economical, like $180 for three months which works out to less than half the cost of privates.

Decent skates around here start at about $120 - that's for the minimum basic skate that you would need to learn figure skating moves.  However, when you're beginning it's not a big deal to use rental skates for the first few levels.  They're free with lessons.

    Sharpening: $9 at my rink.

The big costs are the coaching fees.  Dresses and tights get pricey but you learn to scour eBay for deals and every now and then one of the big companies like Danskin or Mondor has a sale on tights.  Skates are expensive but they will last you a while as long as you get them fitted correctly.

  11. It depends onthe rink, you have to call to inquire the price.

It depends on the brand; the style; or wether you go custom or not. It always best to go custom (IMO)

Sharpening depends on the facility as well.

  12. 1/2 hour a week will be about $30 for coaching and $10 for ice time (different rinks and coaches have different rates so yours may be different)

a good pair of skates will run you about $400 for the boot and $200 for the blade (depends on quality most are higher than this)

    blade sharpening is about $12

  13. At my Ice Rink it is £15 per half hour lesson each week.
