Why do people jump rope before they go out inn the ice? Should I start doing this before I practice?

  1. It helps to build your endurance and helps you to warm up and stretch out before you skate. It's a good idea to warm up before you skate to prevent injury, most skaters stretch and jump rope. If you would like to jump rope to warm up it's a great idea (make sure you also stretch)!


  2. They jump rope because it helps them get warmed up before going on the ice plus it makes your arms less tense so you can use to help you jump faster.

  3. Jumping rope is an excellent warmup for skating.  It's also a good endurance builder and agility exercise.  It's not a bad habit to get into, plus your muscles are ready to go when you get on the ice rather than spending a ton of time warming them up out there.  :)

  4. Jumping rope gets your heartrate moving and improves endurance. It also strengthens your ankels for when you're jumping out on the ice. It's a really good warm up.

    Now that I think about it, i'm gonna go put my jumprope back in my skating bag....
