  1. Your spelling is wrong. It must be "ich spreche ein bißchen Deutsch" But as the letter "ß" is unknown in other countries except Austria (even Switzerland doesn't use ß) you may write "ss" instead.

The correct translation is "I speak a little bit of German".

@kat1605n: You're right about the correction but I don't care of the new "Rechtschreibreform" - new spelling - as I will go on writing as I used to learn it at school many years ago. I will never understand that stupid new spelling stuff. Even many newspapers have returned to the "old" way of spelling as it used to be as the "new" one is completely c**p.

Auf Deutsch: Ich pfeife auf die neue deutsche Rechtschreibreform, da diese total irreführend ist. Selbst manche Zeitungen sind zur alten Rechtschreibung zurückgekehrt.

  2. I get what you are trying to say, so it would translate as: "I speak a bit of German".

In case you need to say or write that down, correct would be "Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch." =)

  3. Ja - first -the right spelling would be "Ich spreche ein bißchen Deutsch" and the meaning - I speak a little German.

  4. I speak a little German.

  5. Just to correct the bit about ß and ss written above: For a few years now, bisschen is correctly spelled with a double s in Germany, too. The last "Rechtschreibreform" (spelling reform) means that now, we only use ß if the vowel before it is long, or if it's an ei, eu, au, plus in proper names because they have their own rules for spelling.

  6. Ich spreche ein bisschen deutsch....

I speak little German or I can speak little German.

  7. Nicht Verstein

  8. Daan D is correct.  It means "I speak a little German."

And I believe the correct spelling of the phrase would be:  Ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch.
