Icing for sugar cookies

i am planning on making icing with powdered sugar with water.

but is it possible to write on the cookies with this?

if not, what is the best icing that i can do that with, preferably one that tastes similar to the powdered sugar icing

  1. you can totally write with it....if you want it to be colored icing just add a little bit of food coloring... and make it a thicker icing....

    put it in a sandwich baggie, and just cut out a very small corner of the baggie and it will work like a piping bag


  2. Here is a recipe for a frosting that my friend gave me. She used to decorate cakes so I know it'll work for decorating cookies.

    Butter Cream Frosting

    1/2 c. butter

    3 1/2 c. powdered sugar

    1 1/2 t. vanilla

    1 egg

    pinch of salt

    Cream butter and egg until light and fluffy. Add sugar gradually, beating well. Add salt and vanilla; beat until fluffy. Add a few drops of milk if frosting is too thick.

    I really don't think the icing that you're planning on using will write. It'll be much too thin. That is more of a glaze than a frosting.  

  3. Yeah! It's fine, pipe it though, and make it extra thick. Use little water with lots of powdered sugar.
