Question:

Icons missing on desktop for windows xp?

I have tried 3x to reboot and right click on desktop with those options but to no avail still no icons. I have not installed anything but just turned my computer on this morning and no icons. Please help!

  1. There will be no icons other than the recycle bin on xp which is not a porblem in itself. Install the programs you want and if they do not come onto the desktop, click on start all programs and drag the programs you want onto the desktop to create a shortcut.

    All of the icons on the desktop are shortcuts anyway. There is nothing to worry about.


  2. try right clicking on the desktop and then going to the view sub menu and click on show desktop icons.

  3. Right click anywhere on the desktop.  In the menu that appears, point to Arrange icons by, in the sub menu that appears make sure there is a tick next to show desktop icons.  If there isn't a tick next to it, then click it.

    This should fix your problem.  If it does not work, post an update.
