Id like to adopt a white baby , is that difficult ? I would also adopt a black or asian baby too . Just prefer white , is it harder for different races? Also is it really expensive , some one told me 30,000 grand in legal fees . Who can afford that ??!!! My wife and I have good jobs , no criminal background . Any advise or insight ?

  1. Minority children do seem to be more "available" in the system, however, it is possible to adopt Caucasian children also.

Adoption can be expensive depending on the route that you go.  Foster/Adopt is typically the most affordable as the state will assist you with different fees, etc. because these children are wards of the state.

Agency adoptions and private adoptions can be quite expensive depending on whether or not you are working with a US adoption or international adoption.  However, I believe that the cost of adoption and the fees that are associated with it are helpful in keeping the children safe.  If adoption was free, anyone would be able to adopt a child - such as pedophiles and child abusers.  The fees that you pay, such as criminal background checks, home studies, etc., help to insure the children are in a loving home and safe family.

My wish is that once the adoption is finalized or after an adoptive family has been approved by a legitimate agency, that the government would offer more incentives to adoptive families to assist with the fees of adoption.  That would help us to protect the children and also make it more affordable for adoptive parents to provide a loving stable home to a child.

    Good luck to you.

  2. I was  adophted at eight years old from mexico. To not have to pay for adoption go through DSS or DSF Department of social services they can help you in adophting. Community actions, catholic charities, Department of Social Services will do two things. 1. Be a foster parent first and you have to do so many hours of training. 2. they will have you get perpared for adoption and you will still have to do training and also have them become personal in your life. You will have to do trainings every month or every 3 months. That is what I use to do in Mass. modivational speaking and would train foster parents to-be or adoptive parents to-be or already. If you do it that way it is free. I just want you to understand that it is very heavy emotionally and it takes time and most of the time it is not fair. Just get yourself perpared for a long hall and emotional one. Make sure you to are really strong together to do this. The one that paid 30,000 did it out of a private agency. Yes, if you do private adoptions they will make sure you are broke. Crimanal background isn't that important they look at speeding tickets, and other things like that they will want to have everyone social security that is in your main family. Your mother, your wife's mother extra......If you need more help i can give you number's good luck!!!!

  3. The cost depends greatly on whether you adopt internationally, or from the United States. In the US, it ranges anywhere from 5,000-40,000$, depending on which agency/attorney you use. Every place is different. International adoptions cost anywhere from 7,000-30,000$, depending again on which agency/attorney you use.

My advice would be research agencies or attorneys. Find one that has a great reputation, and one that doesn't charge upwards of 40grand. There are plenty of reputable agencies that charge alot less.

  4. Look up adoption agencies in your area. I have heard it's expensive, but if you consult with several, you'll feel better about your decision. There are also independent lawyers who deal with adoption as well. Research all of the agencies & attorneys before you even talk with them. Also, decide if you would prefer open or traditional adoption. There are a lot of good books out there about these and it is important to do as much research on this as possible so you can make an informed decision. Whatever you decide will not only effect your life, but the baby's, your family's, and the birth parent's lives.

As for the races, I've heard that healthy white babies are difficult to find. You can either hold out for one or love any baby. Whatever you get is a beautiful human being with their own personality and they deserve to be loved completely and unconditionally. Make sure you can do that.

    Best of luck!

  5. Try this site.  I hope it helps.

You also may contact anyplace that supports girls in crisis in your area.  Many will keep their babies, but some do not.

    Good luck...God bless

  6. advice.......help a child out of the foster care system who REALLY needs a home. don't support the white infant industry of adoption.

  7. I have two adopted sons, 17 months and 4 months. The paperwork to be approved to adopt was the longest process for us. It took us about 4 months to complete. Once we were approved we were chosen by a birthmother in about 6 weeks, our son was born two weeks after that. I was in the O.R. with his birthmom (C-section). With our second son we found out we were chosen two days after he was born. There was no waiting involved, he was a complete surprise. We had told the agency that we were ready to start updating our files to so we could get ready to wait again then a week later we had baby boy #2.

The cost varies. Our first was approx. 30K due to more legas fees than we anticipated. Our second was less than 15K. Going thru your county is the cheapest but usually takes the longest. Attorneys and facilitators tend to cost the most. We used a non-profit Christian agency.

Do a LOT of homework! You will be happy you did. There are a lot of ways to adopt. Also remember that you will qualify for a tax credit of up to 10,600 the year after you finalize. That's a CREDIT not a deduction so that will help reimburse you for your expenses. There are also lots of ways to finance adoption and grants out there.

Best wishes, let me know if you need any more help!!!

  8. Hello,

Adoption laws differ from State to State and country to country.  I would suggest to you to research your options....look at the various agencies in your state and often you will find they provide free informational meetings.  Once you make your decision to adopt in or out of your native country then you can proceed.

If you are looking for a white child in the US is is defintely possible.  You can do this either by finding your birthmom on your own (Private Adoption) or sign up with an Agency and wait for a birthmom to pick your family after she looks through all of the Agency's family profiles.

The costs are intimidating but there are grants, no interest loans and lastly, thanks to Pres. Bush, there is a 10,000 tax credit given to adoptive families.  Talk to your accountant.  Wish you the best of luck.  What state are you in.  I am in IL and can tell you more about the laws here if you need to know.

  9. well...my adoption was different in the fact that a family member of mine gave her child over to me but we had to still go through the entire adoption process...about a year for me but my cost was only 500.00.

i wish you could get this lucky but unfortunately they don't make it easy financially for those of us wanting to adopt through the state or internationally

    best of luck
