  1. Write your request in french and I'll tell how much you know - everybody says the same lies - If you want to become fluent in french why don't you instead target "quality" more than "fluency", which in my opinion is very shallow - For quality, you need weekly courses, written work, translation, copying ( yes copying ( ) loud voice reading, dictations, many corrections - only teachers can do that job - you cannot go to the country and believe that this will produce miracles, if you don't previously build a very thorough personal basis -

That's how I learnt english - and how I write this today - About 10 years of work -

"Je voudrais être courant en français" is correct - but typically english translated into french

"Je voudrais parler le français couramment" - is tip-top - simple and french

This is a field in which huge progresses are possible : "how to say " as natives would do ?

  2. I don't know of a good book and cd but what helps me is to listen to French music with the lyrics in front of me and also to translate it into english and then keep singing along :)

Also watching movies dubbed in french with french subtitles.
