  1. Try eBay or a professional skate shop in your area.  Ebay may have used skates in your price range that will be much better than any skates from d**k's Sporting Goods.  Anything you find at a chain sporting goods store is usually kind of chincy, not very durable and not really intended for someone who wants to jump, spin and spend long hours skating.  You need something with more ankle support than what you'll find there.  Skate shops also usually sell used skates on consignment....which is also helpful if your feet are still growing.  Also, look online or in the phone book for used sporting goods stores.  In my area we had stores called "Play It Again Sports," or "Second Wind Sports" which deals in used equipment.  It may take a little time, but they sometimes do have better skates at a decent price.  I needed new blades and while shopping for skates for my stepdaughters -- cuz I typically never go to these stores -- I found a pair of Harlick boots in good condition and Coronation Comet blades....in just my size!  It was quite a find!  I don't think the sales lady really understood my excitement.  $500 boots in good condition and $300 blades in even better condition for $50???  Hey, some skater's loss was my gain.  Many times skaters outgrow skates and their parents figure getting $10 for them at one of these stores is better than nothing at all.  So check those out too.  Look around the rink you skate at -- many have bulletin boards for people selling used equipment.  Or even ask around if anyone's willing to sell some of their used skates in your size.  A lot of times, old boots and blades just sit around at a skater's house, collecting dust, but if they'd suit you in the meantime, why not get a few bucks for them?  :)

BUT, be careful when buying skates.  Skate brands typically do not run true to shoe size.  They oftentimes run smaller, wider, narrower or larger.  You want to get the best fit you can, even if they're used.  So if possible, try the skates on before buying them.  It's an even better bet to get professionally fitted at a skate shop.

    Good luck!  :)

  2. yea for now u should deff. get sk8s from ***** cause they will be the cheepest and better than the ones u can rent at the rink....when ur mom notices u really like skating, and u do get into figure sk8ing lessons... then u should get really nice ones (especially when u start to learn difficult jumps) even tho they will be expensive, well hope i help=D

  3. Well for $30 and a sporting goods store you aren't going to get much more than a piece of c**p that probably doesn't fit. But we all have to work with what we have, and rentals just suck. You could also try used skates.
