For my creative writing class, my professor has asked me to write a children's book. But I'm all out of ideas. Can anyone help me out?

  1. fairy tales are always good -- princess under a spell, witch or wizard who dislikes the princess for some reason (kindness, beauty, etc.), woodland animals who are friends and help to break the curse, helpful woodcutter who rescues the princess.  Or, reverse the genders and have the female professor of children's lit rescue the cursed prince.

Or, take a memory from your childhood (ie. attending your first baseball game or the first day of school), change the location and describe the event from a child's point of view.

  2. Heres two:

1.) Quiet church mouse tells his story but reader doesn’t find out he’s a mouse ‘til end of the story.  Centered around either Easter or Christmas (possibly both) Story focuses on his relationship with the church’s friar, who is the only one who knows the mouse lives there.

2.) Someone broke into the dragon's cave while he was out and now he's trying to track down his lost treasure.  And for a real kicker, why not make his treasure something different from the norm too.  It could be his favorite book, his blankie that his Mom gave to him when he was still a hatchling, things like that.

You could also have someone help the dragon find his stuff.

    Hope that helps
