Idea for cinema/pub, what do people think?

what do people think of this idea? I live in East Dulwich and it's quite nice but it could be really cool. How about a small arts type cinema, maybe only one screen upstairs with a pub/bar/cafe attached. After watching a film you could go to the pub to chat about it etc. There'd be posters on the wall outside of the current films playing. Theres a struggling record shop down the road that doesn't get much custom even though it's pretty cool and relaxed. If that was attached as well people could have cool music to listen to or have a bite to eat or a drink while they listen to the music they have and browse through it. It would have a pretty laid back, artsy, cool vibe to the place. There's a warehouse off lordship lane that currently has a market in it which would be a pretty good spot for it. Not only would it be a cool place to go and hang out it would help making East Dulwich a bit more trendy. With the comedy and jazz club across the road in the edt, and Northcross road just a bit up the way the highstreet could become a real trendy little spot. It's hard to get exactly what I mean across but If you live in the area you probably get it a bit better. Anyway, that's my idea, what do people think?

  1. It depends how busy you want it to be.It's a nice idea in principle but it caters very much to a niche market and there are very few things that don't already exist in London. I would ask around locally and see how people respond.

  2. I think it's a really good idea, but I don't know the area well enough to give you a definitive answer.

If the area is a bit scummy, so to speak, it would worry me that there weren't enough people around to be interested in a bit of culture - they may only want the block busters and their huge popcorn buckets

If you think there are enough potential customers it is a great idea - perhaps you could run singles nights so people looking for someone could come and meet others. They would enjoy a bit of culture, so they would have something in common, and the film could be common ground for something to talk about afterwards to break the ice. I can see it all now.

There should be a strict no entry policy for anyone wear white trainers (unless they are plimsolls), Lacoste/ben Sherman shirts or gold jewellery.

You could source local ales and try to get a late licence.

Anyway, sorry, am getting well into this - Good Luck with your venture

  3. you cant show movies on a audience cuz its says on the copyright stuff. but you should have a game room instead.

  4. great, theres one where i live, its doing well.
