How would you describe the ideal airline? But, although I say ideal, I mean reasonable. Not free flights on first class. Which airline today do you find best?

  1. My idea of an idea airline is this:

Take the flat fare structures of the low cost carriers and apply them to full service carriers.  I don't mean keep the prices rock-bottom, but rather average out the cost of doing business and apply them to all tickets.  This means that there won't be one seat sold for $120 and the one next to it for $900.  Average it out to a flat price per seat.

With the higher average price, have a set standard of service.  Add an extra three inches of legroom in economy.  Have laptop powerports at every seat.  Serve real meals on flights longer than 3 hours and edible snacks on shorter flights.  Don't overbook flights.  Make tickets refundable up to 48 hours from the departure time, but charge a cancellation penalty within 48 hours of the flight instead of the old practice of overbook and bump.

I would love to travel on an airline that may cost more, but in exchange, I know I don't have to play games with the fares, I can sit in a seat where I can get work done (laptop with a powerport and enough legroom to actually work - have you ever tried to work on a laptop with a 31" seat pitch and the seat in front of you reclined?  It doesn't work!), arrive at the destination properly fed... The biggest hassle with airline travel is that even a 3 hour flight is a wasted day.  Arrive two hours early, check a bag, sit on the plane without doing anything productive, arrive at the destination hungry, eat, wait an hour to claim a bag, wait another hour to get a rental car... Most of the day is gone, and I'm so tired that the only productive thing I can do is go to bed.

  2. its got to be qantas......there cash factor is 0....and they got the best service.

  3. I find British Airways the best because it has good service. The terimal isn't that confusing such as they have direct flights to London. Soon in March 28 or 29 2008 they will have their own terimal Terminal 5 (T5). Most airlines are good but execpt for the ones which aren't that good such as AA American Airlines. They do everything in a rush. There is no safe airline, well there are but your never now what is going to happen. I think that British Airways is the best!
