  1. about number three the higher the number the colder it will all be .sorry dont know about other switch .but remember a fridge needs air to circulate to keep things cool so over loading does not help .if the freezer is not frost free and has a lot of ice on the inside this also causes the temperature to rise, so defrost if needed

  2. I would suggest you buy two fridge/freezer thermometers. You should set your freezer so that the temp remains at 0 or below. The one for the fridge should remain between 35-40, but NO higher, that would be the danger zone.

  3. Those fridge thermostats aren't very reliable to equate to a temperature. Buy yourself a fridge thermometer, which is a couple of pounds from any large supermarket or a shop like Robert Dyas. Place the thermometer in the centre of the fridge when there's an average amount of food in it. Set the dial to 4 initially. Leave it 24 hours and then check the thermometer. You're looking for a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius. If it's too cold, turn the dial to a lower number to reduce refrigerating power and warm things up, or turn the dial to a higher number to make it colder.

If you have a freezer, buy a freezer thermometer at the same time. You're looking for a freezer temperature of -18 degrees Celsius or colder.

The button with 0-1 on it is an on/off switch.

  4. between 3 - 5degrees centigrade. Get a thermometer and use it to gauge wether the dial needs to go up or down in numbers.

set it at 4 to start with -but get a thermometer to use as your guide.
