I have a essay paper to do and i am lost in where i am

right now, this is what i have as my topic sentence

"The raging sociological conflict between people's overdependence on technology and advancement in technology increased problems in health, family, social, economic, finance."

If anyone can help me improve the sentence, go ahead and thanks.

Also for ideas, i want to get some personal ideas from you people by answering some these questions. (if it doesn't apply, then ignore it) (some questions are to get statistics)

-How does the quick advancement in technology affect your daily life?

-How long do you spend on the computer? phone?

-How much money do you spend on technology?

-What would you do if electricity died for a week?

-How is this a conflict?

-Is society justified for implementing advancement in technology to prevent or remove overdependence?

-Does this conflict create deviance within society?

-Why does society view this as a conflict and how can it be dealt with?

  1. Not sure what you mean by overdependence "vs." advancement, don't they go together rather than conflict?

As for your questions, advancements in technology make communication, information, and economic (financial) transfers instantaneous, allowing an unprecedented volume of such transactions.

I spend at least 2 hours a day on the computer, but only 10-30 minutes on the phone.

I'd freak out if my electricity went out for a week.  I've experienced it before, but that was 10 years ago when I wasn't quite as reliant on technology as I am today.

I personally see no conflict between the two.  I think that advancements in technology only make us increasingly dependent on technology.  For example, personal correspondence via "snail mail" is almost nonexistent anymore because of things like the internet and cell phones.

I don't know if overdependence or adancement in technology "creates" deviance in society, but It certainly facilitates it (transmission of child pornography, creating a virtual playground for pedophiles in chatrooms and things like craigslist, pornography in general is far more accessible, people starting extramarital affairs online, violence in media potentially affecting youth, etc.).

One way it can be dealt with by emphasizing to people (especially youth) that real life interpersonal relationships cannot be replaced by technology.
