  1. Activity tables - one table with paper, crayons, stickers; another table with playdough and cookie cutters; another table with sorting games (can be any group of objects - sort round from square or soft from rough or by colors, etc) and another table with legos or other building blocks.

Music and rhythm games - get a bunch of wooden spoons, old pots and pans, clean plastic bottles..anything that makes a noise and just sing songs and beat the rhythms

Crafts - 3 year olds like to glue things, paint things and mold things.  Just get some age-appropriate craft supplies and think up a few simple projects.

  2. read short stories with lots of pictures- simple crafts - they love gluing - just making collages or cutting pictures (you do the cutting) out of magazines and they glue them on paper.  Play doh, short cooperative games, snack - simple themes. We just finished winter animals and are now going to do dental health with a hygienist coming to visit and groundhogs - then we will do simple valentine projects -

Dr. Suess - farm unit - pets - keep it simple and within their interest range.

  3. do foam letters and trains

  4. Songs are fun, especially if they include hand movement

    Science project

Take food coloring and cups of water...ask the kids what color they think the water will turn if you put red food coloring in it...it's cute because they will say things like "green" or "purple", especially the younger 3's...trust me, they will think this is lots of fun!

    "winter wonderland pictures"

If you have colored craft sand put it in white paint and let them paint on white paper...when it dries the picture will turn colors from the sand...it's very cool!

    "What's Missing"

Grab a few items, all different sizes and colors and a small blanket or scarf.  Show the kids the objects and have them describe them...yellow banana, purple dinosaur, ect.  Then hide them all under the blanket and as you pull the blanket away take one of the toys also...ask them what's missing

Hide upper and lowercase letters around the room and have the kids search for the letters and then match the pairs.

Put something in a box that the kids can't see and have them try to figure out what it is only by touch...or smell.

Taste tests are fun...different kinds of apples or fruits.

    Have fun
