  1. I do play d and d on old style paper and pen and have some class ideas. try mixing classes with classes and races with races. example: orc magician or astral necromonger or barbaric paladin. mix it up and im sure you figure out a cool name. also mix traits and spells or skills to give yourself a truely unique character.

  2. If your going to invent it that means you came up with the idea in the first place.  Just get a players handbook .

  3. You really cant find a premade class that does what your looking for.  Just with source books from Wizards there are about 45ish base classes and 2400+ prestige classes.  Thats not even counting the myrid of 3rd party source books (which just counting the ones i have, add about 70 more base classes and another 2 or 3 thousand prestige classes)

Usually theres something in there that will fit the bill of a character concept that you want to create.

If not, then you have to figure out what you want a class to do, and then balance it out with the game mechanics.

Its not really hard to make a class, but finding the right balance and not basically creating a class that already exists is the difficult part.
