Kind of odd! But i need to buy a 20 and an 18 year old a house warming gift, they just moved into the basement of my cousin and they are having a house warming party and expect a gift! What should i get them! No beer or p**n. i'm only 18! one is a geek and the other is kind of a punkish skateboarder.

  1. I think you should ask them.  No point in spending money on something they don't want.  If this doesn't appeal, then get them something consumable, perhaps a bottle of good olive oil, a selection of spices, even a tin of fruit cake, a substance which I'm very fond of, but seemingly no-one else is.

  2. That's pretty rude of your friend's to expect a gift. Just because they moved in your cousin's basement, Will every one have to bring them a house warming gift to go to the party?

  3. Housewarming gifts are usually something useful/practical, rather than something you'd get for fun or whatever.  You'd be surprised just how much stuff you suddenly don't have when you move.

I got a lot of stuff when I bought my first house.  Mostly things like a coffee maker, kitchenware, blankets, a vacuum... things like that.

  4. Traditional housewarming gifts are as follows:

Wine - so that those who live in this house will know the sweetness of life as they get older.

bread - so that those who live in this house will never know hunger.

salt -  so those who live in this house will always have the spice of life.

A silver dollar - so that those who live in this house will always have good fortune.

a broom -  to sweep out the old memories and the bad luck from your new home.

  5. an 18 and a 20 year old- i'd buy them cleaning stuff lol, or a plant for them not to water

  6. get them a visa giftcard

  7. Since their just setting up , you can try going to the dollar store and getting them some household items.

My local Dollar store has nice basic stuff. Get stuff like a spatula, Big cooking spoons, can opener, Sponges, scrub brush, potholders dish towels, knives, forks, spoons, cutting knives, a pair of scissors, a roll of duct tape. etc....My local store has all this stuff in funky colors like hot pink, orange , lime green. Get mop bucket and put everything in it nicely and put a bow and card and perhaps a congrats balloon. $ 15-20 would go far in a dollar store and you could get them things they will need!
