Ideas for NHS & CSF activities?

I'm on board (activities to be exact) for NHS (National Honor Society) and CSF (California Scholarship Federation) at my school.

Does anyone have good ideas that these two clubs can do?

Possibly one-day events?

Community Service, fundraisers, volunteering?

I already have some ideas, but I need more =)

  1. My daughter's NHS had bake sales at their school which did well for a fund raiser.

Sabotage was another fun fund raiser.  Each home room has a jar to put pennies into.  But students and teachers from other home rooms can come put in other denominations to sabotage the total.  At the end of the time period, they added up the pennies from each home room, then subtracted the total of the other denominations and the home room with the most pennies won a prize, like a pizza party or ice cream party.

She was also a member of Volunteer Connection, so she did a lot of community service/volunteering for both groups and here are some of the things they did:

drive by raking - got names of people who needed help raking their yards

humane society - collected donations of items they needed plus money and then went out and walked dogs and played with the cats

Halloween - collected non-perishable food items and donated them to local food banks

They also had a competition between the grade levels and the teachers to see which group would donate the most non-perishable items which were then donated to a food bank and the group donating the most got a prize

  2. Maybe you can get both those clubs to join together and organize a talent show. Open auditions up to the entire school. You may be surprised at how talented your peers might be. Advertise your show, sell tickets and concessions, look for sponsors. (An incentive for sponsors can be placing an advertisement in the programs you pass out at the show). You can generate a lot of money depending on the quality of the acts in your show. It also depends on how well it is organized and advertised.

  3. Balloon Race 50p a balloon.

Unwanted Toy Day people donate unwanted toys to poor people

    Sponsored Skip or Sports Day
