I have a 7 week old pit bull puppy ... We've had her for a week and still can't name her... any ideas?

- she is mostly dark brown with some caramel streaks and a pink stripe through her black nose.

  1. Carmen, Alex, etc. A name with two syllabylles is very suggestable. Dogs comprehend better this way. Cocoa, Cocoa Belle, Sasha, Piper, all so cute! Hey, what about Bella or Ashley?

  2. My pup is called Tess - good strong name that she always recognises when called!

  3. I let my dogs pick their own names.  Sounds dumb, but really.  Just pay attention to the way your puppy acts while you are talking to your friends and family or singing a song or whatever.  They pick up on some words or sounds easier than others and each dog is different.

I got one of my dogs after she was a year old and her previous owners had named her EZMA.  She barely responded to that name.  But I called her EMMA LOU and she has responded to that every time since.

  4. Morgan

    Amy

    Tessa

  5. I think you should call her coco bella or sasha.

  6. Dogs often react better to names with one syllable such as skip, hence the reason why bob is a common sheepdog name. other names with ie on the end such as millie tend to be good as you your voice naturally end in a highger pitch which will grab pups attention/.

    here's some popular suggestions:

    Millie

Cookie, Hollie, Poppy, Lassie,Tammy, Cookie, Baby, Lady, Trixie, Evie. Lucy and so on.  If you have children in the house it is best to shortlist some of your favourite names then let them choose their favourite and then stick to that, This way they'll feel involved and be more likely to take an interest in the general care of the doggie.

  9. Oh, she sounds gorgeous.

I think it's nice to give pit bulls a "softer" sounding name ..I volunteer at a shelter and see them with tough names all the time.  (Sometimes their names get changed so they are more adoptable!)

So something girly and pretty would be so sweet ...Piper is great ..would your sister like Pippa?  I like Belle then you could call her Cocoa Belle as a pet name..

(My dog is called Murray but he has lots of nicknames ..currently "Groover"!!)

Have fun with your darling girl, whatever you decide.

  10. hi,

Serious or silly, evocative or ironic--whatever you decide to christen your dog, it better be something you're comfortable both printing on veterinary forms as well as yelling at the top of your lungs from the other side of the park.

    here's a variety of choices:

  11. harley, bandit, bailey, abby, sadie, roxy, shelby, dakota, cheyanne, jasper, jasmine, molly, bean, shasta, katie,

  12. why not binky or warrior, gunky, goonda, you must give names to animals with animals name not human names to make the difference from human to animals, many just give any names to their animals because their minds are lazy to find a unique an common names to their animals. if oneday i hear my name to an animal i will harass the person who owned the animal or i will kill the animal who carry my name.

  13. How about Sasha?

  14. Stephanie

  15. Pipa is my favourite name.

    She sounds like a pipa!

    lol!

    hope this helped!
