Question:

Ideas for Wraps? (Chicken, Turkey, Ham, etc)

I have recently started fixing my husband and I wraps for lunch. I have the basic Ham-N-Cheese Turkey/Chicken w/ lettuce and cheese, but I would like to have more variety.

They will have to be prepared the night before and kept in a cooler until ready to eat, so simple and items that are good cold would be most helpful!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. Chicken breast cut up and dipped in hot sauce or dressing of your choice. That way you have the flovor but not as soggy as putting it on the wrap itself.

I use sour cream in mine so it stays together and is not liquid to make it sogy too.

Spinach almonds vinegrette dressing with any kind of meat cut up is good too.

Rice and steak you can heat it up before getting ready to eat.

You can put anything you can imagine in wraps. Just think it up in your head and try it. If you dont like it you will know for next time.

  2. You could do an italian style one with pepperoni and salami.

(Think about subs you can get at subway, and replicate, as you can turn their subs into wraps).

  3. I work in a deli and our best seller is a wrap made with chicken or turkey salad.  I first take a small amount of ranch dressing and spread on the wrap and then add the chicken salad on half of it and add a lettuce leaf. Roll up and enjoy.

  4. Well most wraps I've had with a lot of flavor usually have cream cheese in them. Try buying different flavored cream cheese like: herb, garlic, or any other variety you like. They usually provide a lower fat version or healthier alternative than the regular kind. Spread a layer of cream cheese on the wrap(tortilla) and then add the rest of the ingredients. Adding cream cheese helps to keep everything together and its less moist then salad dressing.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Use spinach or mixed salad green instead of lettuce. Try the different flavored wraps. You can also put black beans with a grilled chicken and romaine lettuce in a wrap.  Try some dips with them like ranch dressing.

  6. I also make wraps frequently for lunch. They are really tasty and can be healthy if you put the right things on them. I like to mix and match all sorts of things on my wraps. My favorite wrap is:

tortilla, salsa, turkey, cottage cheese, and raw spinach

I know it sounds strange, but the combination is great. I love putting cottage cheese on all my wraps because it adds flavor, texture, and is a lot less fattening than regular cheese and I love the creamyness.

Another surprising addition to wraps is bbq sauce. A little meat, a little bbq, and some lettuce is great!

If you are looking to be especially healthy, you can also add sprouts to your wrap. These add a great texture, but be careful because they can make your wrap taste a little earthy if you add too much.

Another way to flavor your wraps is to use salad dressing. You can buy tons of different salad dressings and they are a really great addition and flavor boost to any wrap. I try to make healthy wraps with lots of lettuce, spinach and other greens, so the salad dressing really works well with them. But even if you don't use much lettuce a french dressing or ranch dressing is great with all sorts of meat. Mustard is also low calorie and very flavorful. If you can, I would stay away from mayo, just because it isn't very good for you.

The key to a good wrap is having a diversity of flavors and textures. Almost anything works, its just finding the right combination.

Hope this helps you discover some new wraps! Good luck!
