  1. I am against having a huge party for 1st birthdays.  For my son's 1st, we had about 15 people at our house.  I went to Dollar Tree shop to get decors and birthday hats from Party City.  For food, we went to Costco and get mainly appetizers (lots of appetizers) so cooking would be simple (mostly just put in the oven).  we had two cakes, one for my son (small) and an ice cream cake for the rest of us.  There is no fancy games or decors - but it was small, intimate, and with very little effort.

    have fun!

  2. bake a cake and call a local restaurant to see if you would be allowed to bring a cake in to eat after you have your meal. also share some of the cake with the waitress-waiter most restaurants don't mind, some even decorate a table for you and celebrates with you and its cheep unlike a birthday package at McDonald's.

  3. for my daughters first bday i had it at a public park on a sunday afternoon, had little decorations and chips and cake, it was a blast

  4. For my brat's first birthday, she had two parties. One was 2 weeks before her birthday with her paternal grandparents and the whole crew there, there was like 15 people and the whole thing was horrible, my daughter got rolled over by a 150 lb labrador retriever, everyone got into a huge fight, and my daughter cried and cried until everyone left.( it was her xmas/b-day party cause we lived 4 hours away, so everyone wanted to see her). Then we had her actual b-day party the day after her b-day at our house. It was her grandma, 2 of my aunts, my brother, and my boyfriend. We had an awesome time, it was real laid back and just centered around her. She got to sit in her high chair in the living room and have cake, and we all chatted and helped her open her presents and put them together. I took pictures, and we got out the new play table she got from grandma, and when we put her on the floor, she got up and took her first unassisted steps right up to the table. So it was great. I wouldn't take her anywhere, even if your house is tiny. I promise, she won't remember a thing about the party when she's older, and since you're going on holiday right afterwards, maybe consider that part of her gift. Or even just take her to mcdonalds and let her have a happy meal, lol, they love that, if she's eating solids :) Just make sure you get a pic of her cake and a pic of her smearing her cake everywhere, lol. That's the pictures that make the memories.

    Good luck!

  5. Have a little party, maybe a potluck dinner with family and some close friends, make sure there's cake and something for older kids to do, like a few games, but nothing needs to be expensive, and shouldn't be, since she will only be one and won't remember this event at all!  A party for a 1-year-old is more of a celebration for parents for making it through that first year!

  6. We had the big party with everyone crammed in our house for my oldest's first.  It was a bit stressful but fun.  With our second, we wised up.  We called the pizzaria that is nearby and they only charged us $60 to rent a room and that price included pizza!  We still had cake, ice cream and presents and everyone had a great time!

  7. if you have enough space outside your house, u can do a little party there, depends on how many people you'll invite. If money is tight, its better to do it at home, esp. if there are people who'd help you do the food preparations, etc.otherwise, plan the party at a simple restaurant or fastfood chains nearby where they provide the meals, balloons, even clowns or mascots.

Advance Happy Birthday to your baby!

  8. her own home would be best at this age, but McDonald's has birthday parties.  the older kids could play at the play-land.  maybe your little one would like the ball tent.  the best gift for a one year old is anything that can be pushed or pulled.  large or small, this is the age for that.  have fun!

  9. Make a fun theme and just have it at home. Browsing invitations can give you some great ideas. Here is a site that has really cute stuff.

  10. you should make cupcakes, so she can have one for herself. i would just invite close fam and a few friends. get lil party hats they are cheap, and maybe a bday banner. i wouldnt go all crazy, she wont remember it, but you should make it nice, you will remember it, and im sure you will take pictures.
