Question:

Ideas for a 2 year old's birthday party!?

My son will be 2 and I don't know what kind of party to have. I realize I don't have to buy Spiderman napkins and everything, I can make something up...I just don't know what! He has a brother with a birthday just 3 months before him, so I have to think of something else to do. So far, we've done Baby Einstein, Tonka Trucks and we'll do Hot Wheels in Aug. But what should I do for my December baby?

He loves cars, trucks, being outside, and for his mother to hold him constantly. He loves books and irritating his older brother. Seriously, what do I do?

  1. I think you should have his party either a month early,or late because of everyones tendency to to give gifts for birthday,and Christmas.

    The type of birthday really depends on the time of year,and where it is.................You cant have a out door party,if you live

    in ex:Wisconsin in the winter time to cold.If you live in ex:Arizona then an out door party is good pretty much anytime of the year.

    Kids really love animal,I suggest a jungle theme,

    Things You’ll Need:

        * Construction paper

        * Green crepe streamers

        * Tissue paper flowers

        * Paint and brushes

        * Empty appliance boxes

        * Jungle animal print fabric

        * Inflatable or stuffed jungle animals

        * Water balloons

        * Plywood

        * Plastic safari hats and binoculars

        * Markers and stickers

    Cut invitations out of construction paper and fold them to resemble a passport. In addition to birthday party details, add fun facts or comments about the recipient so that each one is unique and personal.

    Step2

    Fill a room with jungle vines by hanging green streamers from the ceiling and attaching tissue paper flowers. Paint pictures of wild animals like elephants or giraffes onto appliance boxes and stand along the wall. Cover tables in animal print cloth and use stuffed or inflatable safari animals as centerpieces.

    Step3

    Fill water balloons and put in a bucket until ready to use. Cut out or draw pictures of monkeys, hippos, elephants and zebras and tack them to a piece of plywood. Lean the plywood against a fence or wall. When you're ready for a party game, have the kids take turns throwing the water balloons to try to hit one of the animal targets.

    Step4

    Give each guest a plastic safari hat and pair of toy binoculars as they arrive. Set up a table with stickers and markers and let them decorate their items while they're waiting for everyone else to arrive. These make great party favors and once they're decorated, it's easy for kids to keep track of their own. Have the birthday child decorate his ahead of time so he can greet the guests at the door.

    Step5

    Sew pieces of animal print fabric together to form a small pouch and attach a piece of ribbon as a shoulder strap. Fill it with small jungle theme toys or treats and hide them all over the yard or a large room if indoors. Send the kids on a safari to find their treat bags.

    Step6

    Serve any flavor punch from small plastic canteens and refer to it as "Jungle Juice." Making a tiger cake is a snap if you use a round cake for the face and two cupcakes for the ears.

    Step7

    Take a group picture of the kids wearing their safari hats and binoculars and enclose a copy with your thank you cards so that all the party guests have a special photo memory to keep.

  2. Trains party would be cool.

    Invitations: print the invitations on the computer with Thomas the tank engine on one side steam coming out of it in the words Two Two and on the other side the wording All Aboard To Celebrate (childs Name) Second Birthday . Train Depot located at: (your address). Date & Time:

    Seat Confirmation Call: Your phone number.

    These were printed on yellow card paper and mounted on a slightly bigger red card paper.

    Decoration: Buy multi colored garland

    Happy Birthday to you flag streamers

    The streamers, garlands and the solid colored balloons are placed around rooms where the people are to be seated and the activities are to take place and the main room where the cake is cut.

    decorate the wall with the  Birthday Banner

    For plates and cutlery buy blue plates with red forks and spoons. Buy yellow cups and green napkins.

    put a table near the entrance door with a sign saying Birthday Express Check In Put gift here.

  3. 1. zoo theme: do crafts that make little animals, finger paint animals, pin the tail on the (any animal), animal shaped cake, etc

    2. snow day (i'm not sure where you live, but that could be fun and you could spray dyed water onto snow to spell out his name or make a race track to then pull the kids in sleds on; don't send the little kids sledding down hills, it will be terrifying.)

    3. just have some of his friends over and let them play. it doesn't have to be big or even themed. just have a day where he can play with some of his favorite things.

  4. If he likes being outside, what about a treasure hunt? You could do basic clues and hide them around the garden. You could even have a pirate theme with a treasure chest, chocolate gold coins, sandpit/ paddling pool for the sea and beach

  5. for my son's second birthday, we had a john deere party, it was outside, but it may be to cold to do in december, but you can find a nice indoor area to do it. i had a pinata, and he loved it. just being able to hit it was fun. we also had a small pool, that i put toys in and filled with hay, and the kids dug around in it to find the toys. and i had scratch off tickets that were personalized.

  6. Pirates are always a fun theme for little boy's parties. My nephew's Mom had made up the party bags / favours with golden coins [obviously, child friendly] - medallion, a toy parrot and pirate-themed quizzes [5-year old party]. This could be adapted for younger tots too and makes for an adorable excuse to dress them up and have some fun - heck, the adults can get involved too!

  7. hi there! I also have a two year old son and will be turning 3 this coming July 24...her sister is 18 and brother is 14...we have no more relatives or friends kids as young as he is..maybe we'll just bring him to the zoo because he really loves playing toy animals and wants to see real ones...and after that dine in a restaurant....and buy him a gift that he really wants Thomas train.......maybe your kid will also like to visit the zoo...       bnky81264@yahoo.com
