Ideas for a 50th suprise party for my dad?

my dad is turning 50 and i need ideas for a surprise party.

like what to do?

what to rent?

what theme?

or anything else u can thing of.

i am having it next may and im thinking of having it at my house but when should i start planning and stuff?

Depending on how big you want it to be depends on when you should start. I think Luau theme would be cute or you can just stick to cute colors. Agua Blue is really in. If you have it at your house rent a tent. If I were you I would have all the family pitch in and rent somewhere that provides all the necessities and does the clean up.

Ask his wife (or girlfriend?) for help planning. Make sure his friends are involved. What does he like? Make it about something he enjoys. I know my husband's next birthday party will be held at a golf resort, because he likes to play golf. If you are having it at your home and he likes golf you could stage a "mini" golf course with just a couple of holes for fun at your home.

Also, you may want to be careful about "too much" of a surprise. Make sure he can handle it. My father-in-law is just over 50 and has had two heart attacks. We will not be surprising him with a birthday party, but he will get a party. Just something to keep in mind.
