I am assigned to do a regression analysis of using 3 sets of data to test hypotheses about relationships between them. It must be Finance related. My professor has already shot down my first 2 ideas, so I need some suggestions! Thank you!

Also, the data should come from this site, http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/

  1. Test the determinant of exchange rate changes.  There is theoretical support for interest rates, money supply, productivity, and the current account as being important drivers of changes in the exchange rate.

  2. Try to test monetary rule: M/P=Y/V

You will need nominal GDP data, Monetary base and Price level. Money supply will be calculated value (better take M1) - taking into account reserve requirements. As "P" you will need to take inflation rate.
