Need some ideas for a casual get together of Army Wives. It will be after dinner, no kids. Need ideas for theme and food. It's like a meet and greet. In April. Thanks in advance.

  1. Go get your blankie hun and I'll play with my dollies.

  2. I love casual gatherings....there's so much you can do with them!

With a meet and greet, you really need something to break the ice.  A good party game for women is "What's in your Purse?"  I play it at every baby/bridal shower, but it would work well with any party full of women.  It's always a hit.   Make a list of 50 things that could be found in a purse...even put in some not-so-common items.  The woman with the most items from her purse wins the prize.  Everyone has a great time seeing all of the things that other women carry around in their purses.

You could also try having an "entry" item.  No one can enter without this item.  I recently had a "whine (not a misspelling) and cheese" party with my girlfriends.  Everyone was required to bring either a bottle of wine, or a block of cheese.  Then we all got together and whined about whatever was currently bugging us.

Another entry idea:  come up with a question (or several questions), and everyone must bring their answer on on a note card.  I usually provide the note card, that way everyone's answer is on the same type of paper, and no one can tell another person's answer from their own.  Put all the answers in a bowl.  When everyone is settled, ask the question, and then pull out an answer.  Everyone has to guess who's answer it is.

I hope it turns out well.

  3. Have a wine & cheese get together, various varieties of both.

  4. Several different desserts or a make your own sundae social. You can also serve coffee.

  5. If it's at the end of April you could have a cinco de mayo theme(even thougn you'd be a couple weeks early it still fits in good w/ that time of year.)  Since it's a meet and greet,  I'd keep it casual and serve chips and salsa and some guacomale, or the seven layer dip. Serve some strawberry margaritas(alchoholic and non-alchoholic), a lime drink of your choice,  You can also  have mint iced tea.  Have fun!

  6. Since it's after dinner, maybe just hors d’oeuvres and drinks. In fact it means little snack foods served before or outside of (“hors” ) the main dishes of a meal (the “oeuvres” ). You can either buy them from local restaurants or make them yourself, better yet, ask each guest to bring their favorite and share, you provide the beverages, tea's, coffee, wines or maybe mixed drinks.
