  1. that is what started me as a veggy, they dont seem to have a specific name for it and generally just lump it under irritable bowl. anyway, if she is anything like me just doing vegetarian and avoiding milk products is generally enough, although some very oily foods can bother me also. generally i'm fine with a reasonable amount of nuts and avacado, but you should probably talk to her about it, eveyone is different.

  2. fat intolorant? ive never heard of that...sounds like and excuse to cover up an eating disorder...

  3. Rice with Quorn & Mushroom Sauce

This is a really quick and simple meal. I heat the mushroom and Quorn sauce in the microwave but you can also just put the ingredients together and heat slowly over a medium ring until hot.

    2 Servings

    200g Quorn Chunks

1 tin Campbells 99% fat free Mushroom Soup

1/2 pound of mushrooms - sliced

    150g (uncooked) rice

    4-6 tablespoons semi-skimmed milk

    salt and pepper.

Cook the rice in boiling water until cooked (takes about 15-20 minutes depending on the rice you have bought). Mix together, in a microwaveable dish, the Quorn chunks, the mushrooms, the soup, semi-skimmed milk and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Cover the dish with a place and place in the microwave. Microwave for approx 5 minutes (stirring half way through). Drain the rice, divide into 2 portions and top with the Quorn and mushroom sauce. It really is tasty!

  4. Fat intolerant??? You mean she tries to stay away from fatty foods?

  5. You may want her to clarify this.  For example most nuts are loaded with fat (not suturated, but still fat).  She can't be literally "fat intolerant" since the all human bodies need fat!

Anyway, one good thing I've found for sauces is fat free cream cheese.  You can add it to spinach and a can of artichokes and make a yummy side dish.

  6. i used to have a great book which i am trying to find on amazon for you...

in the mean time i came up with these....

  7. Anyone who is 'fat intolerant' usually has either liver or gall bladder problems, meaning they can't digest and break down fat. What you need to do is source food with unsaturated or mono unsatured fats made from veg or fruit oils.

A normal healthy low fat diet will suffice and you shouldn't have to worry too much if you follow along those lines.

  8. When I am watching fat, I make a big pot of minnestrone soup or veggie chili with fat free cornbread (from a mix). Also I roast veggies with a bit of veggie stock and lemon rather than oil. Not quite the same, but it definitely cuts the fat.

  9. lol, I thought you meant your friend was fat and intolerant.

That's difficult because vegan food (in my opinion) needs quite a lot of oil/olive oil - even hummus has quite a lot of fat.

you could make some home made soup and serve with nice crusty bread - potato and watercress or Mediterranean tomato would be nice and fresh for summer - for good soups try www.deliaonline.com

btw for those who scoff at being "fat intolerant" that can be caused by gall bladder problems or IBS - it's probably not her fault!

  10. i must admit....i thought you were saying that your friend was fat and intolerant since i hadn't heard of this condition before, lol.   anyway, why not make her a stir-fry?  if you choose the right sauce for it that would be very low in fat.

  11. hummmm maybe air
