Question:

Ideas for a french-themed party for teens?

I've been considering a french-themed party for my sweet sixteen but I need ideas on decorations and activities. Any advice would be great. It's not going to be anything fancy, just in my backyard.

Here are my restraints:

--It's a pool party.

--Guests are ages 15-18.

--Do you think it matters if I play contemporary music instead of french music? Will it ruin the atmosphere?

Any and all help is greatly apprecitated. I'm not that awesome at throwing parties =/

  1. there is a lot of france modern music:

    daft punk

    justice

    david guetta

    bob sinclar

    air

french touch is the most famous house music in the world...

bring a lot of pastries (mostly are french)

place some "feves" i don't know the name in english, it's a little figurine than you put on cakes, and the one who have it in his plate win something, and be the queen or king of party, it's a french tradition.

put a lot of flags everywhere, and play soccer in the pool, or petanque, the french national sport.Only 2 balls each player, make teams it's really simple and very funny !

    enjoy :)

    don't forget wine!

ps:maybe we eat frogs, but you vote Bush!

and don't forget, Chanel parfumes are french!

  2. why dont you have a red white and blue colour theme? for dressing... and girls could wear french themed clothing, i.e. berets :) have pictures up and around, speak a little french (bonjour!) have the lady marmalade song on - thats fun but still french and a recent song!

food wise... just have frenchy type food... bread and cheese... wine or non alcoholic wine...

and you can buy like chocolate coins... the foil covered ones... with the euro printed on! that would be nice :)

hope that helps and that you have a lovely time x

  3. You could make it look like a french bistro with small tables and chairs. you could get blowup pictures of the effiel tower and other known landmarks and hang them up.  You should stick with the flag colors and try to find some french recipes. I hope you have a great party!

  4. Play music you will enjoy, whether it be french or not, it won't ruin the mood.

Go for things light and artistic. vines and plants, flowers, are all very french. grapes cheese and bread are major foods. try decorating with pictures of the eiffel tower and fleur de lis.

Try eating outside. many cafes and bistros in france have places to sit outside and enjoy. meals tend to be long and can go on for hours.

  5. as the chick b4 me said, go with what ever music suits u, how easy is it 2 find french music in ur area anyway? trust me, i'm doing u a favor by saying do what u wanna do, y french? they eat snails/frog legs, most of their perfume stinks, but that's just my opinion, please don't report me. :( anyway, i'd go with whatever is the most comfortable 4 u, what ever's the bargain, what's the closest u can get 2 the franks of the europeon heritage (another term 4 french.) i know, make people wear their g-ma's old lady perfume and get them to wear red, white and blue formals! (french colors on flags)
