Ideas for a persuasive speech?

I have to present a persuasive speech, basically a sermon, for my English class on Monday. It can be about anything controversial or debatable. A lot of people are doing theirs on stuff like abortion, school policies, etc. I want something different, preferably lighthearted. Any ideas?

  1. How about discouraging people from shopping at Wal-Mart because of things like causing companies to outsource work to China.  Thanks to them, you cannot find long time American made brands such as Levi's and such made in America.  Also check out Chilean Salmon thanks to Wal-Mart.  Skim through Fishman's "The Wal-Mart Effect" for more good examples.  This is different than the standard policies people usually give speeches over.

  2. This school should have one week a year when the students do the teaching and the teachers do the homework assignment.

We should officially change our school name to "Who High", with "Who's on First" being our official school cheer and our school song, Who High, sung to the tune of Michael Jackson's Beat It.

  3. Should condoms be issued in school? You would pick which answer you want and write on that.
