Ideas for a play group ... please help.?

Question

I'm in charge of hosting a play group this week for kids and their moms. It will be about an hour long. It will mainly be toddlers and preschoolers. I would love to do something outside, although inside ideas are appreciated too. We did swimming and playing at the park last month. Any ideas?

*bubbles

*tubs & suds & cloths to wash baby dolls and one for washing toy cars and even for washing riding toys

*sprinkler

*popcicles & water melon

*sand box & toys

*several beach balls to throw around

Is there a zoo near your neighbourhood? Perhaps a trip to the zoo with the kids and hosting a Teddy Bear Picnic there too would be a good idea. You can have it where each parent brings a food to sample or each parent brings food for only their kids, and each kid bring their favourite teddy bear or doll.

For a snack or dessert, have some watermelon or freezies.

Another idea would be a treasure hunt. Make a list of directions and a list of things to find and each parent and child goes in search of these things around the neighbourhood or a park. The family with the most things found on their list wins a prize. Set out a time to find all items in and once that time is up, everyone gather for the Teddy Bear Picnic idea again.
