Ideas for a table decorated like a picnic theme?

A red & white checked table cloth ... with a picnic basket centerpiece.  Put a big checked cloth in there and stack some french bread loaves or baguettes out of it ......  At Dollar Tree (or a local $1 store) you can find giant plastic ANTS and put a few around the basket ....   If you can't find plain red & white checked, you should be able to find red, white & blue or bandana prints....

I was going to sasy the red-and-white checkered table cloth as well!  I though of that as soon as I saw the question, but before I read the other answers :-)  And I was going to suggest a solid red table cloth if you can't find a checkered one.    And all the other ideas you received sound good also.

I was thinking ants as well!!  *LOL*

Maybe most people have had a picnic invaded by ants .. :)

Maybe you can get little plastic creepy-crawleys at a toy store?

I think the above ideas are really good - in addition, you can have long strands of grass in mason jars on the table, maybe with a few wild flowers in between (like a field-picked handful).

And serve all the food in tupperware/rubbermaid containers.

You know those plastic pails with a little shovel that kids bring to the beach? They work great for holding potato salad and the shovel is a great scoop. Plastic outdoor kid toys are great additions to your picnic table. The little wheel barrel is great for holding chips, a dump truck for baked beans. Just a few thoughts.
