Ideas for a teen bedroom (girl)

Question #1:

My bedroom is plain. Like my walls are white (but i cant paint them) and i have no decorations (like no posters or any you know cute things..) I dont really have any money to decorate and i feel like my room is a little kidish.

My furniture is the only thing that is like my age. What are some things i could decorate or make for my bedroom?

Question #2:

I have this bookshelf i bought last year at ikea. It is black and it has five shelves. I have no clue what to put on it. I dont want to put my books on it cause i think that will look stupid. It is very big and i need suggestions on what to do with it.

Furniture:

Just to let you know what it looks like. Okay so i have an ikea dresser that has six drawers(black). I have an ikea desk (small and black) I have an ikea nightstand (black and very small and has two drawers) I have a game tv stand like it hold all of my games and dvds but i want to sell it and buy a black ikea tv stand. My bed is a daybed and its white. Are daybeds kidish??? I might get a loft later in the year. My bedspread is black and white polka dots for the sheets and i have a quilt that has patches that match. Its really cute and teenish.

Also what are some things i could put so it could be a teen hang out for my friends i when they come over?

well since you cant pint your room try adding colour by changing your bed covers or curtains, and add colour  by putting up some art work which you could even make your self, such as canvas paintings. or you could pick some cute ones up from ikea.

As for your bookcase, it is made for books and that's generally what i have on mine, but you could out on it some photo frames or some girly collectables.  

the bed isn't childish, i'm 18 and i have one as well =] and as for having a cool teen hangout, have a cd player, we all know every one likes a bit of music =]

Ok, this is what I do to for my stuff and furniture are fun looking! I cut out fun random pics out of magazines and tape them on mi desk. lol you could make a big bulliton board and put pics of yourself on them, or you could just go to http://www.pbteen.com/ my room has a lot of that kinda stuff in it. Think Moulin Rouge think Lace can you get some fairy lights they are so cheap or maybe you have xmas tree lights in white not the coloured ones

Find some audrey hepburn pictures in cataloguse or online and frame them for your bookshelf

black and whit is fab u need cushions in silver and some stencils for the walls with 20pound you could do itaudrey hepburn the 50s put all discs and dvds in drawers lots of cushions and posters of new york skyline

you need to pick an accent color to accent the black and white.  say your favorite color is orange for example, then you add pops of orange in things through out your room (orange lamp shades, or small rugs or something)  on the bookshelf you could put your belonging that you want to show off  (maybe trophies, pictures of you and family or friends, etc)  my cousin has a day bed and it looks great(she's a teen)  she even has this thing that you keep under the bed and it you pull it out and it pops up into another bed (good for sleepovers)  :)     in one corner of the room you could put a comfy rug and those bean bag chair things and a little stand that has magazines and stuff on it for you and your friends to hang out at.    hope this helpsss  :)

well I'm in the process of redecorating my room also.

i painted my walls like a tan yellow so it would be neutral for any color i can put in my room.. but white can also do that.

i bought these wall things from burlington coat factory but you can also get them at any targets or Walmart, and i put like my trophies and medals on it.sincee you have a book shelf, if you play any sports or any activities you can put your trophies on it or medals. i also put my favorite series of books in my wall blocks.

i know this sounds corny but is the sisterhood of the traveling pants series. you can also put like stuffed animals in it that youve had for a long time. and for your dresser and bed side table you can put like some pink flowers or yellow or green so it will really brighten the room espicially since its off black. and if you have like a tv or computer a nice little desk will be nice. i love the black and white theme of your room. you can also throw that off with some pink or lime green.

Painting is the best and least expensive way to change your room. Try a cool color like soft to mid green or maybe a neutral liketannish. Paint the trim white to pop the white in you bedspread. Black picture frames with like James Dean or whoever you admire...all black frames and then black and whit pictures in them. You can use one wall for those. Then buy a few cute smaller shelves and paint them black and put them up. a nice lamp in a cool color that might match the quilt would be good, neutral   for mood. then for the bookshelf, Lie a few books on it then put some pottery from the flea markett or the dollar store on it. Maybe some bright colors to pop and give the room personality. You are in between so you can always use a bean bag, black or white or red even. Just dobn't go too trendy with the paint. Go neutral....it will stay with you longer. No a daybed is great for a teen. Luck, Miss Mary

1-You can paint the walls a color that you like, or that you thinks represents your personality.

#2-If you have like knick knacks, or special stuffed animals, or something with sentimental value, you can put it on the self. Maybe you can have a few of your books on it.

#3-Daybeds kinda remind me of elder ladies.

#4-Moon chairs are really cool, they are like $20, at Wal*Mart. (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/601... know there is the stupid brat doll on it, but you can get solid colors.

I had the same problem as you. So what i did was...i went on ebay and i got lots of cool things that were cheap, like i got these pink boxes with red design on them (but they dont look babish) and it really looks good. I also got stuff in argos.

you could buy a small fish tank (or a fake one if you are not allowed fish in ur room) to put on your shelf.

same here with my walls they are plain. what i do is i go on the computer and print out pics. and then tape it up on the wall. i have band names on mine.=]

and for your bookshelf, you can put not just books but stuffed animals or whatever you think that will look good.

daybeds are actually cool if you have friends over.

also for friends you could put what you like and they like either on the wall or on a shel. like your fav. band or something.

Get some blank cds and make like strands of them hanging on the wall

or go to home depot and get blackboard paint. you can paint a blackboard on your wall and write on it with chalk.

also mabe some bean bag chairs or something. or get a futon.
