Ideas for a tropical decorating scheme?

I am doing a tropical theme in my home. I have a lot of blues and greens and some purple. I like hawaiian and tahitian stuff and I have some white french country furniture too. How do I blend the tropical and european stuff a little better? How can I make it look a little more like a beach house without looking too busy?
